October 1, 2026, evening: sound at the table
The tables are no longer silent. Cards make a soft sound as they are played, drawn, dealt, and gathered, and the Herald has a voice of brass and drum: a short trumpet call when a hand begins, a fanfare for a shot moon, a march, gin, or a king taking his corner, a soft drum for the Queen of Spades or a side that is set, pops with the fireworks, and applause when you win a match.
- Sound is on at a moderate volume, and the speaker button on each table's toolbar turns it off with one tap. Your choice is remembered.
- Table settings add a volume in three steps, the Herald's calls on or off apart from the card sounds, a Turn reminder (off unless you turn it on), and a Play a sample button.
- The Intermission silences everything at once, and a watched hand stays quiet until you press the speaker.
- Each game page now explains the Intermission button in its own short section, and the table's Menu has an About the Intermission entry that leads straight to its settings.
